The multi-award winning film on the festival circuit tells the story of Philippe, a gloomy multimillionaire who has been paralysed from the neck down and Driss, his new Senegalese assistant from the downtrodden banlieues.

A fundraising dance will take place in the Upper Deck, Crossmolina on this coming, Saturday January 26. Music will be performed by Wavelength, all proceeds go to Jacks Wish To Walk. Jack is a four-year-old boy from Crossmolina and is going to St. Louis, USA on February 7 for a life changing operation that will help him to walk. Translations by Brian Friel is set in the year 1833 in the hedge school of Hugh Mór O’Donnell in Baile Beag, a small village in Donegal where the use of Greek and Latin are commonplace. The arrival of the Royal Engineers engaged in creating an ordnance survey map leads to a clash of cultures. Owen, son of Hugh Mór acts as a translator and go-between. However when one of the engineers goes missing the destruction of the community looks imminent. Translations deals with many issues including language and communication and cultural imperialism. The show will get underway at 8pm this evening, Friday, January 25 and tickets cost €15 and are now on sale from Ticketmaster outlets online and nationwide and from the Royal Theatre, Box Office on 094 9023111.

Running until the end of June The Irish Headhunter is an exhibition of 63 early photos from the west coast of Ireland taken in the 1890s. This exhibition focuses on the photographs of Charles R Browne, taken along the west coast of Ireland. Browne was a medical doctor and anthropologist who undertook physical surveys of people for Trinity College, Dublin. These surveys were mainly carried out in West Kerry, the Aran Islands, South Connemara, Erris, Clare Island and Inishturk in County Mayo. The photographs are full of human interest and also convey a lot of detail about the clothes worn at the time. The exhibition is supplemented by information on the international context of eugenics at the time.
Today, Friday January 18 from 11am to 1pm you can take part in the drop in knitting circle in the museum. Enthusiasts and beginners alike are welcome to join the museum knitters as they share skills, patterns, and chat. Starter kits for children are available. No booking is required.

As part of their first Fringe Festival Claremorris Drama Festival are looking for 10 new 15-minute plays to be performed on the weekend of Friday March 8 to Monday March 11, 2013. Two plays will be performed each of the four nights (after the main play in the Town Hall,) and there will be two additional performances on the Sunday afternoon.
