Jerry’s live shows have been known to transform sedate tux ‘n’ frock audiences into Roman galley slaves rowing their way through ‘The Hole In the Boat’, or ballroom-of-romancers slow-dancing to ‘Back To Before’, or swampy block parties gyrating to bacchanalian classics like ‘Celebrate’.

Handel’s Messiah to be performed in the Church of the Holy Rosary

A very special performance of Handel’s Messiah will take place on Sunday, December 8 at 7pm, in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, with all proceeds going to Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation. It will be hosted by RTÉ’s Mary Kennedy, and feature internationally renowned soloists, Regina Nathan, Ann Marie Gibbons, Eamon Mulhall, and Owen Gilhooley. The Celtic Concert Orchestra and a choir of almost 100 local choristers will perform in what promises to be a truly wonderful event.

The Handel Challenge Committee, with Mayo Roscommon Hospice called for 100 singers last August to take up this challenge, with Kathy Fahey as music director leading the way. The group have been practising and training tirelessly in mastering one of the most famous and most frequently performed choral works in Western music. Aside from the singing, the choir have all pledged to raise a minimum of €200 in sponsorship. The sponsorship has been coming into Hospice with some choir members raising over €2,000.

Mayo Symphony Orchestra to perform at the TF Royal Theatre

Wide Open Music and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra present Tasmin Little with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra on tour in Castlebar on December 5 at 8pm at the Royal Theatre. To coincide with this event Mayo Youth Orchestra have been preparing a programme which they will perform with Tasmin Little in a short pre-concert performance at 7.15pm in the Royal Theatre on the night of the RTÉ NSO concert. Over the last number of weeks musicians from the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and conductor Fergus Sheil have visited Mayo Youth Orchestra to help coach the young players in preparation for the concert. The pre-concert performance is free and all are welcome to attend.

Classical pianist extraordinaire Nikolay Khozyainov brings his spellbinding technique and supreme artistry to the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar for a very special concert on Wednesday, November 27 at 8pm. Nikolay Khozyainov won last year’s Dublin International Piano Competition with a truly breathtaking performance. Now here’s a chance to hear this young lion of the keyboard in full flow, as part of a nationwide Music Network tour. Hailing from Blagoveshchensk, in Eastern Russian, the 21-year-old is one of the most remarkable pianists of his generation.
