New research has revealed that a majority of Irish hoteliers are optimistic about the medium term outlook for the sector with 67 per cent saying that the tourism sector will improve within the next three years. A total of 71 per cent believe the financial performance of their own properties will improve within the same time-frame. The research also revealed that 54 per cent of hotels saw turnover increase in 2012, with 26 per cent saying it decreased.

An EU scheme is funding international business exchanges for go-ahead young people and for host businesses eager for new ideas.
Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs, an EU funded international business exchange initiative, has launched its 2013 programme for Ireland at a briefing hosted by Dublin Chamber of Commerce and the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Enterprise Board.

A number of Mayo based companies will be displaying their wares at Bank of Ireland branches across the country for the eighth National Enterprise Week, which takes place from May 17 to 24. Bank of Ireland business customers and non-customers have been invited once again to Show Their Business at their local branch, to have the opportunity to interact directly with customers and highlight local success stories.
According to Bank of Ireland, at the start of National Enterprise Week, new and approved lending to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has risen by more than one quarter in the first three months of 2013, based on year on year figures. Bank of Ireland has already approved some €1 billion since the beginning of the year and is confident that lending for 2013 will exceed its new and increased lending target of €4 billion. The bank noted that the key driver of lending was higher than average loan values in key sectors and that it is seeing a definite trend of momentum in the hospitality, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors.
