Washington job for Castlebar man

Castlebar native Jack O'Donnell has been appointed programme director to the New Story Leadership (NSL ) in Washington DC for summer 2013.

NSL is a programme offering talented young leaders from Israel and Palestine the opportunity to live and work in Washington while completing professional development and leadership training. Through shared experiences, the third level students are given a chance to share their story on a world stage while gaining new perspectives on their troubled regions. “The programme is not political or partisan, but simply seeks to give a platform to young people who are hungry for inspiration and experience" says O’Donnell. “Washington is the political capital of the world and is accustomed to listening to senior political leaders. Rarely do these policy makers hear the testimony of a younger generation who will ultimately take responsibility for the future."

In 2011, O’Donnell participated in the Washington Ireland Programme working on Capitol Hill for Senator John McCain.
