Extra Springboard places will help jobseekers get back to work

Fine Gael TD for Mayo, Deputy Michelle Mulherin, has welcomed the announcement that the Government is making 6,000 extra part-time higher education places available through the Springboard programme, which is aimed at helping jobseekers to reskill and get back to work.

Deputy Mulherin said: “These 6,000 extra places are across 200 different courses in 38 institutes of technology, universities, and other colleges across the country, including a number of courses at GMIT and IT Sligo. These courses are specifically tailored to meet the demands of the economy and include disciplines such as IT, communications, international languages, and financial services.”

House prices in Mayo continue to fall

Asking prices for houses in Mayo have continued to fall in the second quarter of the year, with the latest survey from property website MyHome.ie showing that the median asking price of a three-bed semi fell another 4.2 per cent to €125,000. This means that the price of a three-bed semi in Mayo has fallen more than 43 per cent from the peak in 2006.

Government targets €21m fund at turning good ideas into good jobs
