The Big Sing: Choirs invited to take part in spectacular Knock Basilica concert

Choirs from all over the west of Ireland are being invited to join a universal choir of love as part of The Story of Love concert taking place in Knock Basilica on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16.

The brainchild of Dublin composer Willie Hughes, this very special concert brings together choirs from around the world, Italian singers, and Irish musicians for a unique musical experience. The concert will end with a massive universal choir of love where Irish choirs live in the Basilica will join with choirs from around the world including the Sistine Chapel Choir, Rome, and St Patrick's Cathedral Choir, New York, who will be joining by video link.

In a groundbreaking finale, led by Knock Basilica Choir and Knock Gospel Choir, the massed choirs will sing the very moving anthem: "We Believe It's All About Love". Speaking this week, composer Willie Hughes says he is encouraging choirs from all over the west to take part in the concert for the performance of the finale. “I’m inviting any choir who would like to take part in this very special performance to get in touch with me. The finale is a very simple memorable anthem which is easy and very enjoyable for choirs to learn.”

The concert has a production team of top Irish professionals including Niamh White, former director of The Late Late Show, and Mark Cahill, music producer for Liam Lawton. “Concert goers will be greatly entertained by beautiful singing, musical, and artistic performance. They will come away with inspiration and hopefully a deeper trust in the goodness in the world,” says Hughes.
