Eleanor Shanley live in Westport tonight

An excited Eleanor Shanley is looking forward to playing at The Town Hall Theatre Westport tonight, November 20, with doors opening at 7.30pm. “I’m looking forward to Westport big time! The Mayo audiences are super and playing in the new Town Hall is all part of the excitement,” said Eleanor in the build up to the show.

Eleanor is touring Ireland with her new album Forever Young, her 14th recording to date. The single "Gorgeous and Bright" received the most airplay during the summer on RTE Radio 1. In addition to the airplay success, last month she received The Danish Folk Prize Award. She is only the second Irish artist to be given this prestigious honour, along with The Dubliners. With festival commitments including Fleadh in Sligo Eleanor has had a very busy year. Her voice is effortless and pure and she truly is blessed with a vocal talent. It is no surprise she is still as popular in 2015 as she was in the 1990s, having worked with everyone from Ronnie Drew, De Danann, The Dubliners, Sharon Shannon, Donal Lunny, to U2 and many, many, more both at home and internationally.

Renowned for her unique interpretation of Irish and roots songs, Eleanor Shanley has been at the top of her profession since her first appearance with De Danann in 1990. She recorded two critically acclaimed albums with them, A Jacket of Batteries and Half Set in Harlem touring Europe, Australia, China, Japan, and the USA as well as taking part in several tours of Ireland. Her recording with Ronnie Drew of the Dubliners of Couple of more years in 2000 has become part of Irish folklore.
