This year’s Westport Arts Festival, which runs from the October 2 to 11, features a number of interesting architecture-related events. Everyday Architectures is an outdoor architectural exhibition featuring Co. Mayo based buildings or building details, designed by architects. Each exhibit consists of photographs and line drawings of a building design accompanied by a statement from its user or client about its value: be it spiritual, financial, societal, accessible, usable.
The exhibition demonstrates how everyone's everyday experience can be improved through good design, be it through a house, a shop front, a material, a piece of furniture, a moment of life framed in a view, a detail, daylight, delight.
The exhibition runs from the October 3 to 11, taking the form of an open-air installation along The Mall River in Westport, with a public walkabout and discussion with the exhibitors at 4pm on Sunday October 11. The event is sponsored by the RIAI and Ecocem.
