Local Fianna Fáil TD Dara Calleary has said he expects the engineering design consultants for the long-awaited Ballina Flood Relief Scheme to be appointed in January 2020.
The Deputy Leader of Fianna Fáil was speaking in the aftermath of raising the issue in Dáil Éireann this week.
"In reply to a Parliamentary Question, the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform has informed me that a tender competition for the procurement of engineering design consultants for the project is underway and it is anticipated that the consultants will be appointed in January 2020”, said Deputy Calleary.
"The consultants will be responsible for preparing a programme for the implementation of the flood relief scheme and for assessing all viable options to address the flood risk in the Bachelors Walk/Arbuckle Row, Howley Terrace area of the town.
"I want to assure concerned residents that I am continuing to monitor this situation and will be aggressively pursuing the Department in the coming weeks to ensure that this progression is made in January,” concluded Deputy Calleary.
