Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union formally launches Student Bursary programme 2024

Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union haVE announced the launch of their Student Bursary programme 2024, aimed at alleviating some of the financial burden of education for deserving students.

The bursary, totalling €1,500, will be awarded to assist the recipients in pursuing their academic goals with ease.

“We understand the challenges that students face when it comes to financing their education. Our Student Bursary is designed to provide tangible support to deserving individuals, enabling them to focus on their studies without the added stress of financial worries,” SAID Marise O’Toole, Deputy CEO of Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union.

The recipient of the Student Bursary will be the Athlone or Castlerea secondary school student who achieves the highest points in their Leaving Certificate exams and plans to attend the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS ), Athlone Campus, in 2024 to study under the Faculty of Business & Hospitality.

“We believe in investing in the future of our community, and supporting education is a vital part of that commitment,” Ms O’Toole added. “By offering this bursary, we hope to empower students to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.”

Dr Michael Tobin, Acting Dean of Faculty of Business and Hospitality at TUS Athlone, warmly welcomed the launch of the 2024 bursary.

“As a faculty, we are committed to shaping tomorrow’s business leaders. Thanks to the generous support of Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union, one of our incoming students will receive invaluable assistance through the Student Bursary programme, which encourages and rewards academic excellence. Together, we will inspire future leaders to thrive and make impactful contributions to both the business world and society at large,” Dr Tobin commented.

Applications for the Student Bursary are now open and interested candidates are encouraged to apply by the July 1 2024.
