Two Buccaneers touch rugby players were core members of the Connacht squad who claimed their inaugural women’s interprovincial success at Old Wesley RFC on Saturday,

Aoife Purtill scored three tries on the day including two crucial scores in the 3-1 final win over Munster, while Molly Copelin put in a massive shift playing every minute of all four competitive matches.

Buccs were also represented by Aoibhin Tynan who played for Leinster and impressed with a fine score against Munster.

There was a women’s social tournament for newer players held alongside the interprovincial series and Cayleigh O’Neill played for Old Wesley in this competition.

Well done to all the club ladies on what was a significant and historic day for women’s touch rugby in Ireland.
