Backstage drama has arrived at The Snug Bar

The launch of Backstage at The Snug Bar will take place on Tuesday, July 2, with the hilarious comedy play ‘Catch me if you Can’ by Margaret McKenna Mullan.

Coincidentally Margaret, renowned for writing and performing her ‘laugh out loud’ plays, is actually the mother of Gillian who currently runs The Snug Bar with her husband Michael Nugent.

“It just made sense to open our function room to Margaret. She has the plays and we have the venue! It’s a fantastic venue where locals and tourists alike can come along to enjoy a fantastic play while sipping on a glass of wine or two. We also have a pizza and wine special which we offer if people want to come in beforehand for a delicious pizza from Pavarotti’s and a glass of wine or a pint of beer,” Gillian remarked, when talking about the forthcoming night of local drama.

This highly entertaining and fast paced comedy play delivers relentless laughter and promises to be the perfect night out. ‘Catch me if you Can’ is set in a country cottage in the Midlands. Two spinster sisters, Mary Luby, played by multi-talented Anne Hoey and Greta Luby, played by the playwright herself Margaret McKenna Mullan, find themselves lumbered with their cantankerous ageing Daddy, played by Seamus McKenna. Both sisters have the same agenda of inheritance, but is it enough? How much more can they take? Paddy the Painter a rogue of the highest order, who gets more than he bargained for while dealing with the Luby sisters, is played superbly by no stranger to the stage and a native of Moate, Paddy Broder. The crazy doctor is played by none other than Paul Slevin who has acted in all of Margaret’s plays.

‘Catch me if you Can’ will take place every Tuesday and Wednesday in July at 8pm, Backstage at The Snug Bar. Tickets can be purchased in The Snug Bar daily from 5pm or by calling 090 6490370.
