Thirty five choirs will take part in the ever-popular Mayo International Choral Festival which will include several evening performances with stellar line-ups in venues all over Mayo, as well as pop-up mini performances on the Songway Choral Trail and competitions during the day, the festival runs from Wednesday, May 22 to Sunday, May 26.

Singing to the shores at choral festival launch
The beautiful Lough Corrib and Inchagoill Island was the setting for the launch of the 2017 Mayo International Choral Festival. Last Saturday saw some 50 members of different Mayo choirs take to the waters of Lough Corrib to sing-in the sixth festival. The atmosphere on the day was one of relaxation, fun, and a sense of adventure.

President to attend Knock concert
The Mayo International Choral Festival have announced that the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins and Mrs Sabina Higgins will attend as guests of honour at the Concert For Peace in Knock Basilica on Saturday May 14 which will commemorate the 1916 Rising and World War I. The unprecedented scale of such a concert in this venue will see close to 200 artists perform on the night, all presented by lauded broadcaster, RTÉ Lyric FM’s Liz Nolan. Conductor extraordinaire David Brophy of RTÉ’s award winning High Hopes Choir and instrumental fame brings his impressive experience to proceedings, conducting this special event.
World’s favourite orchestra - to perform at Knock Basilica
Voted ‘World’s Favourite Orchestra’ in an international poll in 2015, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra is all set for a rare visit to the West, when they perform at Knock Basilica at the Concert For Peace, Saturday May 14, under the baton of renowned conductor extraordinaire David Brophy.
