A Roscommon TD has raised the case of a Garda search of a Galway peace activist’s home and is demanding answers on the issue from the Minister for Justice Alan Shatter.

A 22-year-old unemployed man who was found in possession of cannabis following a search of his rented house, was convicted and fined at Ballina District Court on Tuesday.

“I was only holding it for someone,” was the response given by a young Mullingar man when gardaí found close to €800 worth of drugs at his home.
