The emergency department at Mayo General Hospital is under pressure as an “exceptionally high volume” of patients are presenting there with winter vomiting symptoms, said a hospital spokesperson this afternoon (Friday, February 6).

Visiting restrictions are still in place in Mayo General Hospital as a number of patients are displaying symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting, usually caused by Norovirus - commonly known as the winter vomiting bug.
