Uisce Éireann customers in Craughwell can look forward to an improved supply of clean, safe drinking water.

Minister for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rails and Ports and Leader of the Independent Team of Ministers, Seán Canney TD, has welcomed the commencement of long-overdue water mains replacement works in North Galway between Caherlistrane and Carheens, saying the upgrade will bring much-needed improvements to local water infrastructure.

Galway homes and businesses can look forward to a more reliable water supply with water mains works due to begin in the coming days.

Irish Water, working in partnership with Galway City Council and Galway County Council, have successfully decommissioned and replaced problematic and old cast iron water mains in Forster Park and Cedarwood Close in Galway City and in Lemonfield, Oughterard.

Irish Water, working in partnership with Mayo County Council, is replacing approximately one kilometre of old and damaged watermains in Ballina and Killala that were prone to frequent bursts and leakage, which caused water supply disruptions for customers in the area. The mains are being replaced with new high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes.
