Cruise welcomes water main replacement works in Foxford

Fine Gael councillor Neil Cruise has welcomed the commencement of works on the replacement of cast iron water mains in two locations in Foxford this week.

In a social media post Cllr Cruise said: "I am delighted that Source Civils, Sligo, will commence works on the replacement of cast iron water mains in two locations in Foxford."

The works in the first location got underway on Tuesday at Dispensary Road, Foxford, from the junction of Dispensary Road with the N26 and will carry along up towards the Bourke's residence and will take two and half-weeks to complete

The second location where the works will take place in is the replacement of a section of the primary water mains, feeding Foxford Town and the wider area of Belass on the Swinford Road from Sliabh na Gréine east as far as the Grotto and up the Reservoir Road for 50 meters, and is expected to take up to four and a half weeks to complete.

Cllr Cruise said: "These works represent a very substantial investment by Irish Water in further securing our water infrastructure here in Foxford. I have been fighting for these works for quite some time and am delighted the works are about to commence.

"I wish to acknowledge the help and advice from my colleagues. In addition, I have received great counsel from management and technical staff (especially in the water section ) in both Irish Water and Mayo County Council."
