Kenny and Ring represent Ireland abroad this weekend
An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister of State Michael Ring will be among the 19 Government emissaries representing the country abroad during the upcoming St Patrick’s Day celebrations. The Taoiseach will be travelling to the United States where he will have the traditional St Patrick’s Day meeting with President Barack Obama, he will also be meeting Vice President Joe Biden while in Washington DC, where he will also make a keynote address at George Washington University where he will receive the university’s Making Democracy Work Award.
Afternoon of classical sounds coming to Westport
Violinist Catherine Leonard and pianist Hugh Tinney will visit Westport on Sunday 7 October for an afternoon concert at 4pm in Holy Trinity Church as part of Westport Arts Festival. Their programme artfully combines two Beethoven sonatas (No.6 and the "Kreutzer" Sonata) with Westport born Raymond Deane’s “Parthenia Violata” and Ravel’s Sonata in G major.

Award nominations, heavy press reviews, and a must see live status are just some of the accolades this irish boy/girl four piece have achieved. Since exploding onto the music scene in 2007. The band’s debut single “Forget Romance Let”s Dance! Made a huge impact on its release in November 2007, landing at number three in the Irish download charts, with the promo video being one of the most requested on popular irish music channels. The bands debut album was released this Feburary in Ireland to critical acclaim. Upon the release of the second single “I Fell In Love With You”, the band were invited to play at Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club, where many hailed them as the highlight of the week.
