Renowned UK singer-songwriter, Lloyd Cole, and celebrated Montreal songsmith, Martha Wainwright, are among this year’s stellar line-up at the Galway Folk Festival 2025, taking place from June 4th-8th in various venues across the city.

Monroe’s will host an evening of original songwriting and storytelling on Saturday, December 28, with doors opening at 7pm.

Folk Americana group The Raines comprises of Ruth Dillon (vocals, guitar, ukulele) who has toured and recorded with the legendary vocalist Dolores Keane, is a former member of The Molly Hicks, and has three solo albums of her own. Juliana Erkkonen (fiddle and vocals) has been at the forefront of the Americana musical scene in Ireland and has released 7 albums with a diverse range of acts, and Yvonne Tiernan (vocals/ukulele/percussion) who has toured as lead singer with The Chieftains.

Portman's new album, entitled Train to Nowhere features maestro Maciej (Magic) Zaworonek's poetic harmonica lines. Portman's music on Train to Nowhere feature his wry humour but also the subtle depth that one expects from a songwriter of Portman's standing.
