The Rose of Tralee, Maria Walsh from Shrule, has spoken out about the devastating consequenes of road carnage on families and communities as part of a new Valentine’s Day themed road safety campaign.

Teresa Molloy of Valleycourt in Athlone will be travelling to Frankfurt, Germany in May to represent Ireland as part of Team Ireland in the World Hairdressing Championships. 

Galway was reeling last evening after a day of horror on the roads on Tuesday which saw five people die in two separate accidents in a twelve-hour period.

Roads were covered with a sheet of rain; rivers and streams broke their banks, and in four households, heavy footsteps made their way hesitantly across the water-covered footpaths before delivering news that would change the lives of four families forever.
