TF re-opens after second closure

The owners of the TF Royal Hotel and Theatre in Castlebar were making 'no comment' on the second closure of the hotel in recent weeks when contacted yesterday by the Mayo Advertiser.

New sales director appointed for the Mayo Convention Centre

The management team at the Royal Quarter have announced the appointment of Martina Nicholson as the sales director of the Mayo Convention Centre. A native of Donegal, Nicholson has been with the Harlequin Hotel since 2012, where she has occupied the role of revenue and marketing manager. Nicholson will bring a wealth of experience to the position and is looking forward to a bright future for the Mayo Convention Centre. The hospitality industry is well and truly in her blood with 20 years of hotel experience. Prior to working at the Harlequin Hotel, she worked for five years as a manager at the Athlone Springs Hotel, one of the Midland’s main conference venues, as well as experience at the Menlo Park Hotel and Conference Centre Galway.

New owners for Royal Theatre

The Royal Theatre Castlebar has new owners after hotel management and property companies, Islandeady Properties and Lansdowne Frances, agreed to purchase the properties. The acquisition includes The Royal Theatre, The Ruby Room, Mayo Conference Centre, TF Hotel, Harlequin Hotel (4 star), multi storey car park, and The Royal Quarter Retail Area incorporating Boots Chemists and other various retail stores, The Mosaic and other car parks.

Islandeady Properties and Lansdowne Francs are to acquire The Royal Theatre, hotels, and The Royal Quarter retail area from Andrew O’Leary and Kieran Wallace, KPMG in a move announced today.

Lands used to access Royal Theatre are not owned by the receivers court hears

At Castlebar District Court this week it was heard that a section of land which is adjacent to the Royal Theatre, which is used by patrons to access the hotel, is in fact in private ownership and was never owned by Diorama Ltd—the director of which is Pat Jennings—which have been taken over by receivers. It was found that this piece of land is not therefore in control of the receivers.

Objections to Royal Theatre dance licence

There were two objections to the renewal of the Royal Theatre’s dance licence at Castlebar District Court on Wednesday.
