Returning for a 46th instalment, Clifden Arts Festival is set to embrace those special unplanned moments that Seamus Heaney called “the music of what happens”.

Folk Americana group The Raines comprises of Ruth Dillon (vocals, guitar, ukulele) who has toured and recorded with the legendary vocalist Dolores Keane, is a former member of The Molly Hicks, and has three solo albums of her own. Juliana Erkkonen (fiddle and vocals) has been at the forefront of the Americana musical scene in Ireland and has released 7 albums with a diverse range of acts, and Yvonne Tiernan (vocals/ukulele/percussion) who has toured as lead singer with The Chieftains.

The Galway Science and Technology Festival (GSTF), as part of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI)’s National Science Week, returns this November as a virtual event, but promises to capture all of its usual fun and excitement.

THEY ARE long standing members of Galway's folk music scene, but it is only recently, after a get together on Inis Óirr, that Yvonne Tiernan, Ruth Dillon, and Juliana Erkkonen have joined forces as The Raines.
