€3.8 million for Nuns Island Theatre and Church House facelift
€3.8 million has been secured to renovate the Nuns Island Theatre and Church House, to its rear - a move which will represent a further 1,800 square feet of cultural space in the city and a significant boost to the arts community. The funding was secured under THRIVE, the Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme, awarded under Ireland’s two European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Regional Programmes.

Last Saturday, May 21, was the 158th anniversary of the opening of the Presbyterian Church on Lower Charles Street, Castlebar. Henry Todd of the firm Todd, Burns and Co of Henry Street Dublin laid the foundation stone on 31 July 1863. He performed a similar service at Roscommon earlier that day. Todd was a generous patron of the Presbyterian Church.
