Galway Traveller Movement has launched its Election Manifesto for the upcoming general election. They are asking candidates to address the discrimination and racism experienced by the Traveller community in Galway city and county.

Europe’s only annual festival of nomadic cultures, Galway based Misleór has launched their 2024 programme. The programme features a vibrant mix of music, film, talks, poetry, storytelling, workshops and art exhibitions. The Misleór Festival of Nomadic Cultures will connect nomadic peoples from around the world and showcase their artistry at over 25 events over four days. ?

News of the funding was announced by Galway Traveller Movement (GTM), following the organisation's success in securing resources to expand the scope of its online interactive map of traditional Traveller camp sites in Galway city and county.

A series of biodiversity workshops for young people will take place in Galway later this month.

The Misleór Festival of nomadic cultures will run in the city until October 1 with a vibrant programme featuring music, film, poetry, talks and visual art from Traveller, Roma, Sámi, Mongolian, Australian Aboriginal and Romany Gypsy communities.

Several hundred Galway residents attended a rally on Saturday in Eyre Square to highlight racism. Galway Communities Against Racism and Discrimination organised the event which was supported by many groups including Amach!LGBT+, members of the migrant community, including those living in Direct Provision, and the Green Party.

Misleor, which starts on Thursday September 29, is a truly special event, and the only festival in Ireland that celebrates and connects nomadic cultures from around the world.
