The Ballyhaunis councillor took over from Cllr Patsy O’Brien who said while he enjoyed chairing the meetings he was looking forward to getting back to just being a councillor at the meetings and not having to be as restrained as he was in the chair when addressing issues.

BMX track a big hit with bikers
More than 100 people turned up to the launch of the floodlights at the BMX track on the Kilmaine road, Ballinrobe. John Murphy chairperson of Western Lakes CC highlighted that this work, which started back in 2007, has now paid dividends with large numbers from various backgrounds participating on a weekly basis.
Mayo GAA strategic action plan committee takes first steps with announcement of steering groups
The make-up of the Mayo GAA Strategic Action Steering Group, and the timetable it will follow, have been announced. The thrust of the Strategic Action Group’s work is to look at 10 headings with a view to producing approximately six concrete recommendations per heading.
