Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism, and Sport, Michael Ring, yesterday announced the restoration of a roads goodwill payment, as part of an overall package of measures for landowners affected by road schemes. This follows detailed discussions between the Department of Transport, Tourism, and Sport, the Irish Farmers’ Association, and the National Roads Authority.

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring this week warmly welcomed the announcement by the National Roads Authority that further road works will take place on the N59 Rossow Bends at Kilmeena, Westport. The N59 Rossow Bends scheme, between Newport and Westport, is 1.8km in length and continues from the N59 Kilbride Scheme which was completed 2012. The Rossow Bends section is part of the overall N59 Westport to Mulranny Road Improvement Scheme.

The long-awaited N59 Maam Cross to Oughterard road improvement project is to be progressed under the National Road Authority (NRA) Minor Works Scheme for 2015, details of which were announced last evening.

The contract for the N59 improvement scheme at Moycullen was signed yesterday (Wednesday) in Galway County Council buildings in the presence of the Cathaoirleach of Galway County Council, Cllr Mary Hoade, and representatives from Wills Bros. Ltd, the company awarded the contract, and the National Roads Authority.
