A number of Athlone based personnel successfully completed the NISO ‘Introduction to Occupational Health and Safety’ in Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) and were awarded certification at a presentation held in the Prince of Wales Hotel.

NISO Midland branch held their presentation of certificates for the ‘Introduction to Occupational Health and Safety’ course in the Prince of Wales hotel in Athlone. Hosted by Athlone Institute of Technology from February to June, 16 participants successfully completed the course.

Responding to the Government’s proposal to absorb the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) in a new Business Inspection and Licensing Authority (BILA), the National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) is instead proposing the establishment of a national safety authority covering occupational, road, rail, aviation, maritime, fire, farm and public safety to create efficiencies without negating the role of various health and safety agencies.
