‘THE MIGHTY Ocean’, a major new musical composition by the great Máirtín O’Connor, reflecting on the power of the sea, but also humanity’s pollution of the oceans, premieres this weekend.

We may have entered the second month of 2021, but the continuing Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown makes it seem like an extension of last year. Yet, in the words of Galway city arts officer, James Harrold, "we will be in ‘play’ mode again and the deferred pleasures of 2020 will be back in our calendars".

On November 7, Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture youth music project, Livefeed, will host a live online event featuring young musicians and songwriters from Galway city and county. The event will be livestreamed via the Livefeed Facebook, YouTube and Twitch accounts at 7pm and available to watch after the event on YouTube. The event will also feature as part of the TRIBES Youth Arts Festival programme.

 The primary purpose of the network is to formalise a system for sharing information, strategies and culture amongst festivals that will represent a strong voice in Europe. It will shape, develop, reach and agree on common positions and perspectives on key issues. The network will be able to develop resources, business models, best practices and information exchange infrastructures to support members in the emerging film ecosystem, providing a unique opportunity to strengthen film festivals.
