The Athlone branch of the Knights of Columbanus, with members of the local community, made a recent fundraising pilgrimage to Clonmacnoise, in the process raising €6,000 for Athlone Meals on Wheels.

Annually organised by the local branch of the Knights of St Columbanus, the Pilgrim Walk to Clonmacnoise was recently launched.

Through the generosity of the people of Athlone area, The Knights of St Columbanus were able to afford approximately €4,500 to local charities including the Father PJ Hughes Mission Fund, before Christmas of last year.

The Simon Community, Medecins Sans Frontieres, and the RNLI are the chosen charities to benefit from this year’s Freemasons’ Gala Dinner which will take place in the Clayton Hotel on Thursday March 5 at 7pm.

Deputy Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, Minister for the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief, launched the Knights of St. Columbanus ‘Fresh Veggies for the Needy’ project.
