Mr Laitenberger has spent many years learning the craft of vegetable growing, experimenting with different plants and techniques, and passing on his knowledge to countless students of all ages. The last 10 years have been spent in Ireland, so he has managed the vagaries of boggy soils, high rainfall, the most common pests and diseases, and has distilled what he has learnt into his discussions and lectures.

As interest in ‘growing it yourself’ reaches fever pitch in Westmeath, details of the GIY 2010 conference, which takes place on Saturday September 18 at the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin, have been announced.
