Radio auction tomorrow to help Lions Club help 750 local families
At Christmas time, Galway Lions Club provides Christmas vouchers for 750 needy families and individuals. To fund this, the club completes a number of large fundraisers in the Galway area in the lead up to Christmas. The two largest are the supermarket collections and the radio auction.
Lily-Mae to turn on Galway’s Christmas lights
The campaign is on to get ‘Tiny Dancer’ the single recorded by a group of musicians and singers to raise funds for Galway girl Lily-Mae Morrison, to the top of the charts for Christmas. The single will be launched at the opening of the Galway Continental Christmas Market tomorrow (Friday) and Lily-Mae, who is suffering from a rare childhood cancer, will turn on the Christmas lights at the event with the help of singers Paddy Casey and Declan O’Rourke, and Anthony Ryan, chairman of the Galway City Business Association.

Lions International is a worldwide organisation with more than one million members, united in their aims under the motto “We serve”. The Galway Lions Club was formed 40 years ago, and since then has been a very active group in helping the less fortunate members of our community. Essentially, what members do is very good work, and they enjoy doing it, but none of it would have been possible without the remarkably generous support of the general public.
