The Belcarra 8k fun run and walk takes place this Sunday April 14 at 12.30pm. The mainly flat course around Belcarra is AAI measured and has an AAI permit granted through Mayo AC.

Gleeson and Bidwell taking Swinford 8k wins

Swinford AC hosted its annual 8k on Sunday. It was also the fourth race in Mayo AC's C&C Cellular Road League. The turnout was slightly down on last year but conditions were good and the race put some síamsa on the local sráide

All roads lead to Balla for 20th running of Balla 10k

The 20th Balla 10k will take place on July 28 at 7pm. It is the third race in Mayo AC C&C Cellular 2012 Road League. This traditional race has an established place on the calendar and has always attracted runners from the top clubs in the west and further afield. The 10k course has a reputation for being tough but fair, and the same runners come back year after year. As well as the ups and downs, there are straight flat stretches and a fast downhill main street finish. The race open to all. Full details are on www.mayoac.com. This year clubs will compete for team prizes. The combined times of the first three men and women club finishers will count. There will be medals and high viz jackets for all finishers. Refreshments will be served in the Community Centre, while showers will be available in Balla GAA club. Sweltering Conditions for second Great Western Greenway 10K

The second Great Western Greenway 10k run/walk, co-organised by Mayo Sports Partnership, Westport Leisure Park and Westport Town Council, took place on Saturday May 26 last with more than 300 participants lining up for a 2pm start on the Newport side of the Greenway. According to Mayo Sports Partnership, the event which took place in fantastic weather conditions mainly attracted first time runners of this distance and was an off road trail run/walk.

Ann Murray (Mayo AC) won the women's masters race in the Connacht Cross Country championships held in Galway on Saturday.
