The Belcarra 8k fun run and walk takes place this Sunday April 14 at 12.30pm. The mainly flat course around Belcarra is AAI measured and has an AAI permit granted through Mayo AC.
All runners, joggers, and walkers are welcome. The entry fee for Sunday is €15. There is a €50 course record bonus for both males and females, the men's record currently stands at 27.17 (Robert Malseed, 2012 ) and the women's record is 34.43 (Kathleen Barry 2012 ).
This year there is a junior run for national school children which will start at 11am, the entry fee is €5 and all finishers will get medals. There will be cash prizes for first, second and third place in both male and female finishers, with additional prizes for first, second and third placed finishes for fit for life members. Registration will be on the day in the community centre (opposite the church ) from 9am. Changing rooms and shower facilities are also available.
