The cast and crew of Deenside Pantomime Society have come together once again for their annual pantomime which is renowned for entertaining the masses for the week in Castlecomer.

A great crowd attended the golf club recently to pay tribute to John Maher on the occasion of his retirement from the bar in the club. John has been the friendly face in the bar for the past twenty five years and has recently faced serious health problems.

O'Loughlin Gaels displayed excellent fighting spirit to overcome a gallant Erin's Own in round two of the 2011 St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Championship, played in Ballyragget on Friday last. O'Loughlin’s started very slowly. They were unsure and were like a team a bit off the pace.

Bet you never thought that Shrek would have any reason to have relations with Cinderella. Well, in reality you are probably right, however, when Castlecomer’s Deanside Players come together for pantomime season, everyone knows that anything is possible.

Sunday’s Leinster clash between neighbouring teams Carlow’s Naomh Brid and Kilkenny’s Erin’s Own provided an exciting spectacle for all in Nowlan Park. The game looked to be in Naomh Brid’s grasp, however, with late vital scores and conceding frees it wasn’t to be their day.
