At the beginning of February 2014, the Single European Payments Area, a payment integration initiative of the European Union, will be in full operation. The aim of the project is to improve the efficiency of cross border payments and to turn the many national clearing systems into a single payment area.

Last October father-of-one Keith Connolly was involved in a road traffic accident. Sadly, the injuries Ballinderreen native Mr Connolly received resulted in the amputation of his legs. He has since begun his treatment in the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dún Laoighaire, Co Dublin, and he is making excellent progress.
