Independent Ballina councillor Mark Duffy put forward a notice of motion at the April meeting of the Ballina Municipal District calling for a 300 meter extension of the footpath on the Killala road in Ballina to Oaklawn housing estate; and also, in time, allowing it to connect up with the proposed new Culleens National School.

Westport based independent councillor Christy Hyland said at this month's Mayo County Council meeting that coach operators are refusing to use some routes in Mayo along the Wild Atlantic Way - because hedges and tree branches are damaging their coaches.
