Mayo’s finest musicians in concert for Crumlin Children’s Hospital
It is Mayo all the way as the county’s finest musicians take to the stage in the Holy Rosary Church, Castlebar, next Saturday night April 27 for a special concert to raise funds for Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children Crumlin. Hosted by well known Castlebar business man Walter Donoghue, the concert features the Mayo School of Music Youth Choir, Cill Aodhan Choral Society, and Castlebar born organist Siobhan Kilkelly, a lecturer in piano at the DIT Conservatory of Music in Dublin.

Taoiseach launches Living Links Tri Event
Last Saturday, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Dr John Connolly of the Irish Association of Suicidology formally launched the Living Links Tri Event in aid of Suicide Awareness in Mayo. The Living Links Tri Fundraiser is being held in conjunction with the Blacksod Point Challenge Triathlon in Belmullet on September 22, and is a Triathlon Ireland sanctioned national series race.

On the international scene, Kiltimagh’s John Higgins has been competing on the Tesco 99 Octane British Rally Championship. With one round of the series still to run, John, who co-drives for Cork’s Brian O’Mahony in a Renault Clio Super 1600, holds a comfortable class lead in the rally three category, while the pair are also featuring strongly in the overall championship table.

Gaughan and Molloy fly flag for Mayo on Cavan Stages Rally
Ambrose Gaughan from Foxford and his Lahardane co-driver Derek Molloy claimed one of the best results of their rally careers to date, with second in class nine on Sunday’s Cavan Stages Rally. Competing in a Toyota Corolla the pair had a trouble-free run to finish 53rd overall from a starting position of 146th, recording a great result against some very strong opposition.
