The proposed development of two wind farms in County Galway sparked strong concern among councillors at this week’s plenary meeting, with members warning that the projects could prove deeply divisive for rural communities.

During the 2024 Galway Science & Technology Festival over 2,000 primary and secondary school students across Ireland participated in a STEM education programme on renewable energy and climate. The initiative, which is in its first year, has been made possible through community funding from SSE Renewables and Greencoat Renewables – co-owners of Galway Wind Park.

Co-owners of Galway Wind Park SSE Renewables and Greencoat Renewables are now taking applicants for the 2024 Galway Wind Park Scholarship Fund. The fund is available for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
