Over the last four years, the business community in Galway has endeavoured to shine a light on water safety for World Drowning Prevention Day, a United Nations (UN)/World Health Organisation (WHO) initiative which takes place internationally on July 25 each year.

Sports clubs across Galway are to receive a €15 million slice of the half billion euro sports funding pie announced by government ministers this week.

More than €220,000 has been granted to sporting bodies in the Galway West constituency under the Government’s Sports Capital (Equipment Only) Scheme. This is separate to the non-equipment Sports Capital Grants, which will be announced in September.
