Ballyhale Shamrocks and Tullogher Rosbercon landed two more Leinster titles for the county last Sunday to copperfasten what is undoubtedly the best year Kilkenny hurling has ever seen. Some might argue that the entertainment value wasn’t as high as other years, but in terms of trophies won surely ‘08 will never be surpassed. Last Sunday’s victory merely put the icing on the cake and it was the perfect ending to a perfect year.

Tullogher-Rosbercon enjoyed their greatest day in the 120 year history of the club as they typified the strong character of Kilkenny hurling teams to grind out victory over Clongeen in a famous day for the South Kilkenny club.

Mr Michael Kitt TD, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, presented the winners of the National Tidy Towns Competition (west region) with their prizes on Monday afternoon and also commended five local Tidy Town heroes for their tireless endeavours in selflessly contributing to the public good in their communities.
