Trek West Tours and the Mill Times Hotel, Westport were just two of almost 30 tourism businesses from across the country promoting their wares and offering special offers on accommodation, activities, and attractions to passing commuters.

Fáilte Ireland West has won an Institute of Advertising Practitioners of Ireland Advertising Effectiveness Award for its ground-breaking Right Here, Right Now domestic tourism advertising campaign. The Advertising Effectiveness Awards are considered to be the flagship industry awards for the advertising industry and celebrate the most effective advertising campaigns in Ireland.

Tourism in the west to get a boost from Discover Ireland campaign

An Taoiseach Brian Cowen launched Fáilte Ireland’s autumn initiative with the publication of a new great value Discover Ireland holiday supplement for September and October. Each copy of the supplement contains special offers from tourism businesses in Ireland, including the west, and includes a special offer cheque worth €50 which is ready for use in selected venues. The initiative, which is part of Fáilte Ireland’s year round promotion of Ireland as a home holiday and short break destination, aims to give local tourism businesses a boost for the months ahead.
