Mayo businesses featured in Discover Ireland promotion

A number of Mayo businesses featured in a Discover Ireland day held at Heuston Station in Dublin last week to mark the launch of Fáilte Ireland’s new autumn brochure. Trek West Tours and the Mill Times Hotel, Westport were just two of almost 30 tourism businesses from across the country promoting their wares and offering special offers on accommodation, activities, and attractions to passing commuters.

With the summer holiday rush over but the staycation bug well established, the national tourism authority is embarking on a marketing blitz to encourage more Irish people to holiday at home this autumn. “The summer is over, the weather is changing and the kids are back to school,” said John Concannon, director of market development for the national tourism development authority. “So why not pick up the autumn edition of the Discover Ireland Special Offers brochure and plan your perfect autumn break. Packed full of over 200 brilliant value breaks for all the family, it’s full of special treats too. From free €50 spa vouchers and free extra nights to ‘2 for 1’ offers to top city attractions, your only problem will be agreeing on what to do first.”

Copies of the Discover Ireland brochure, which includes more than 500 special offers, will be carried in some national weekend papers from this weekend and will also be stocked at tourist information offices. Alternatively go to www.discoverireland.ie to download a copy.

“The range of special offers in the autumn brochure and online are a reflection of the determination of tourism businesses out there to fight for every potential inch of the market,” Mr Concannon added. “It is up to all of us in the tourism sector to do all we can to secure every piece of business possible by offering good value and a great experience.”
