A cookery demonstration and dining experience being held in the city next week will raise vital funds for a local organisation which reaches out to families and those in need.

Next Wednesday, November 8, House of Plates in Castlebar will challenge local customers to Dine in the Dark as part of Ireland’s first national Dine in the Dark Week.

The Ardilaun hotel has recently welcomed its first fairy family who have set up home in the garden and are a great attraction for all children dining in the hotel with their families, whether in The Ardilaun Bistro or the Camilaun Restaurant.

Local chef Kevin Stirzaker and his team at Dining Room on Bridge Street, Castlebar, are holding a charity event to benefit the Enable Ireland Safari Club for children with disabilities. Popular publican Mick Byrnes of Byrnes’ pub, will be guest chef for the night under the watchful eye of Kevin and his team. Up to 70 guests will be wined and dined with a specially selected menu over two dinner sittings on Tuesday, at 6.30pm and 9.00pm. Local food and beverage suppliers are also supporting the night.

On Thursday November 10, House Of Plates, Castlebar, will challenge local customers to Dine in the Dark as part of Ireland’s first National Dine in the Dark week. On the back of an innovative partnership between the Restaurants Association of Ireland and the National Council for the Blind, 200 restaurants across Ireland will hold their own Dine in the Dark session.
