A proposal for a community multi-use complex for Galway city, for sports, arts, and community groups and organisations, has been included in the draft Galway City Development Plan 2023 - 2029.

Mayo Fine Gael TD Michelle Mulherin has called for decision making on all planning matters relating to foreshore and immediate offshore areas to be left to local councils in the first instance.
