John McNicholl to play benefit dance for Western Care
John McNicholl has announced that he will play a benefit dance for Western Care Association in the Park Hotel, Kiltimagh, on Friday, November 16. This will be John’s only appearance in Mayo in the coming month and is sure to attract a huge following. This event is being organised by Derek Higgins, a 28-year-old from Shanaghmoyle, Knock, who will run the New York City Marathon for Western Care Association this Sunday, November 4. He is the first Mayo person to run the marathon in the Big Apple for the association and intends to raise significant funds for Western Care.
John McNichol is coming to Newport
Country music star John McNichol and his band are winging their way west next weekend, when they take to the stage in Hotel Newport on Saturday, October 8. In 2001 John was the proud recipient of the Best Newcomer Award from Country Music UK. Among other great highlights of John’s singing career to date include sharing a stage with Daniel O’Donnell and Sir Cliff Richard at the Kincasslagh Festival, County Donegal. John also played support to the legendary Elton John.

The man who is known as Ireland’s King of Country Music will take to the stage for a one night only dance at 9pm. The last time Big Tom was here the numbers that came out to see him were incredible, and there is no doubt that it will be the same again. “We know that demand for accommodation around Castlebar and neighbouring areas is going to be huge, even more so than last time, as Big Tom fans travel from all parts of Ireland and overseas,” said Pat Jennings of the Royal Theatre. “It is testament to his enduring appeal as a man of the people that he is still the king after all those years.”
