The queens of country music are visiting Kilkenny next week and promise to provide a spectacular array of the finest country music.
Country singing greats Billie Jo Spears, Philomena Begley, Stella Parton, Georgette Jones, and Leona Williams will take to the stage in Langtons ballroom on Sunday March 21.
Billie Joe Spears has been performing since the seventies after making a debut at the age of just 13. Since then she has gone on to achieve top hits such as ‘Mr Walker, It’s All Over’, ‘57 Chevrolet’, and ‘Blanket on the Ground’, which reached number one in 1975. Billie Joe is no stranger to the stages of Ireland.
The Queen of Country Music, Philomena Begley, has been on the music scene for 45 years and is still as popular as ever. Born in Pomeroy, Co Tyrone, Philomena has recorded 25 albums and numerous singles such as ‘Queen of the Silver Dollar’. Having performed throughout the world Philomena always turns in a top quality performance that reveals why there is no arguing her status as Queen of Country Music.
With an authentic and unadulterated yet dynamic and compelling voice, Stella Parton will delight the audience. Sister of Dolly Parton, she is no stranger to the industry. Also singing and performing from an early age and with her new CD Testimony, Stella performs everything from country to pop to rock with inspiring quality.
Leona Williams was destined to become a country music entertainer. She landed her first radio show at the age of 15 and this was the beginning of a lifetime of entertaining people. During the last few years, Leona has enjoyed recording duets with several in the country music industry including George Jones, Jimmy Martin, Floyd Tillman, Justin Trevino, Johnny Bush, and Joe Paul Nichols. Having received six encores on the last night of her Irish tour in 2004 Leona returns to Ireland with a promising line-up that is a must see.
A huge success earlier this year at UTV Country Fest, Georgette Jones is back on tour. Daughter of the famous George Jones and Tammy Wynette and better known as the “Princess of Country”, Georgette completes this great line up and showcase of talent with a total of nine dates across Ireland.
With this line-up of top country musicians, for anyone that likes a bit of country - this is a show not to be missed.
