The Connacht Property Auction now taking entries for November auction
The third Connacht Property Auction of 2014 was held on September 18 in the Menlo Park Hotel, Galway. The auction team noted strong interest in the lead up to the auction and indeed most of the properties on offer were successfully sold. Interestingly there were in excess of 300 recorded viewings on the various properties in the lead up to the auction which shows the pick-up in demand for properties. Of the 23 properties on offer, there were six properties in Galway and seven in Mayo, along with properties in Clare, Roscommon, Leitrim, and elsewhere around Connacht.
Sixteen lots to go under the hammer today at DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard’s summer auction

Today’s proceedings will see 16 lots coming to the auction floor and promises to be a busy and exciting afternoon for both buyers and sellers. 2014 is proving to be a busy year for leading property agents DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard, launching its fourth series of auctions for the year. The July auctions follow on from the successful April auctions which yielded excellent results for the company and its clients. “We are seeing a lot of activity in the marketplace,” according to Alan Maxwell, who heads the auction division at the company. “There is a definite appetite to buy out there and confidence is returning to the market. People are seeking value but they are also seeking quality and well-presented properties. Our open viewings are proving very successful in the lead-up to the auctions. Signing of first phase of Costelloe water scheme will be cause of celebration, says Ó Cuaig
After many years of poor water quality and on-going campaigning the signing of the contract for the first phase of the Costelloe Regional Water Supply Scheme will be a cause of celebration for the people of Carraroe and surrounding areas, that is according to Independent county councillor Seosamh Ó Cuaig.
Westport 5k refixed for February
The ever popular Westport 5K which fell foul to the weather has been refixed for Sunday, February 7. The event which takes in the final round of the 2009 Mayo Athletic Club, Vodafone, C and C Cellular road race league will get under way at 2pm in the west Mayo town. The race will be held over a flat accurate course on the streets of the town. Entries for the race will be taken in the dressing rooms at the sports centre beside Westport Athletic Club’s track from 12.30pm on the day of the event. There will be refreshments served at Hotel Westport where the race finishes and the prize giving will take place there also from 3.30pm. There will be prizes in the men’s category for the first three finishers overall, first three over 40s, first three over 50s, and the first junior u19. In the women’s section of the road race league there will also be a prize for the first three overall finishers, first three over 35s, first three over 45s, and first junior. There will also be a prize for the best team from the four Mayo Fit4Life group on the race. Entry for the event costs €15, and there will also be a presentation of the Irish Runner most improved athlete award for 2009.
