It has been a good season so far for Tony Ward's Galway senior camogie players and they hope to continue their winning ways when they face Wexford in the All-Ireland semi-final this Saturday in Nowlan Park (3.30pm).

The Galway senior hurlers are 2/1 outsiders this Sunday to defeat Eamon O' Shea's Tipperary in the All-Ireland semi-final at Croke Park (4pm).

Since the end of the National League campaign, Noel Connelly has become the public face of the Mayo management team when it comes to engaging with the press. That's championship stuff and that's what gets you going. You ask the Donegal boys and they'll say  the same thing when they'd to play Tyrone in the first round at the end of May. They can't be thinking ahead to August. But August is where you want to be."

At half time last Saturday in Croke Park, with the teams level, most Galway supporters were pleased with their team’s work-rate and performance and even twenty minutes into the second half, those of us in the Cusack and Hogan Stands were still hoping that if Galway could get a goal, or pull a few points in front, it would ask serious questions off Rory Gallagher's men.

The Mayo senior ladies' football team will be looking to pick up the pieces of their heartbreaking loss to Galway in the Connacht final a couple of weeks ago when they take on Tyrone tomorrow in the All Ireland qualifiers series with a place up for grabs in the All Ireland quarter-finals.

MY OPINION of The Frames has always been skewered towards the negative because of their debut single, the hideously awful 'The Dancer'. The band's knack of repackaging indie and alternative rock for mainstream audiences made them appear edgy to many - but only if you ignored what was going on in indie and alternative rock. Forgive the Indie-snobbery but that did not sit well with me either.

Following  their lacklustre draw last Sunday (0-7 to 1-4) in the Connacht final against Sligo at Hyde Park, the Galway minor footballers and, especially their forward division, have a chance to redeem themselves at Tuam Stadium tomorrow evening in the replay (Friday 7pm).
