A major outdoor dance event, the Thrill on the Hill, is being planned for next month in Castlebar in a bid to establish a new world record and raise valuable funds in aid of a cystic fibrosis group.

The 2009 Vodafone C&C Cellular Mayo AC road league concluded with the ninth and final race at Westport on Sunday. This was the 11th annual road league and the most successful so far. C&C Cellular and Midwest Radio have launched a Fibbs for Fones scheme in order to raise money for life saving defibrillators in the local community.

€160,000 has been raised for local groups by C&C Cellular, with management from Mid West Radio, in a recycling mobile phones campaign for defibrillators along with a recent Charity Ball held in Breaffy House Hotel last weekend.

Since January 2009 the Fibs for Phones campaign promoted by C&C Cellular and Midwest Radio has raised more than €163,000.
