Local researchers call on citizen science for ‘Plan Bee’
World Bee Day on Monday May 20 was marked by researchers at University of Galway posing a quest to the people of Galway, following their calls for the public to support the monitoring of more than 500 wild and native honey bee colonies.
OPW to host 6th Annual Honey Show this weekend
The 6th Annual Office of Public Works (OPW) Biodiversity Festival & Honey Show will take place in Phoenix Park from tomorrow Friday 9 until Sunday 11 September 2022. Tours, lectures, and family activities will take place throughout the weekend. All events are free; however, booking is required for some as places are limited.
Year of the honeybee
This year has been designated the year of the honeybee. To mark the occasion the Westport, Ballina, and Connemara Beekeepers Associations will have a stand at Féile na Tuaithe (May 21 and 22) in the grounds of the Museum of Country Life, at Turlough, Castlebar.
